Loan Against Shares

A Loan Against Shares (LAS) is a secured loan where you pledge your shares or securities to a bank or NBFC and get money without selling your investments. You continue to hold ownership, but the shares remain pledged until the loan is repaid.

  • - Interest rate often around 9.5% to 11.5% per annum.
  • - Typical tenure is about 1 year with renewal options (lender specific).
  • - Dividends and benefits generally continue during pledge.

Eligibility Criteria

  • - Shares should be in approved listed companies.
  • - Active demat holdings.
  • - KYC and income proof.
  • - Lender credit assessment.

Things To Check Before Applying

  • - Market Risk: If share price falls → lender may ask for extra collateral (margin call).
  • - If you fail to repay → lender can sell pledged shares.
  • - Loan value changes with market movement.
